September 7-11 Weekly Update

Join me in congratulating the BLS teachers and staff for the academic achievements during the 2025-2026 school year. I have attached a flyer to this message that highlights several of those accomplishments. Please help us keep the momentum going by encouraging your child to do their best every day.

Parents, we need your support regarding student attendance and tardies. Please ensure your child is attending school each day and arriving on time. Remember that students enter the building at 9:15am, 1st block begins at 9:30am, and dismissal is 4:30pm each day.

Homecoming is Friday, September 18. We will kick off homecoming week with a school dance on Saturday, September 12 from 7:00-10:00pm and tickets are on sale now. The cost is $11 for seniors and $16 for underclassmen. Tickets will be sold this week during both lunches.

We have partnered with the GPD and GFD to sponsor Run Well. It’s a running club and mentoring program that starts this Tuesday. Times are 4:30-6:00pm. Students of any running level can participate and each participant receives Chick Fila at the end of the session.

The annual Ben L. Smith vs. Dudley food drive competition begins this week and ends on October 1. Please participate by sending or bringing non-perishable and non-expired items to the front off for drop off. The winner will be announced at the October 2 Smith vs Dudley football game. The Golden Eagles have won this competition the past 2 years and need your help to make it 3 in a row.

All seniors are required to have their T-Dap and MCV vaccinations by September 19. Please schedule an appointment with your physician or check with the Greensboro and High Point health department for immunization dates.
